Painting Story
The ‘Healing to Bloom’ Painting Series represents my recent spiritual growth spurt as I have navigated through dealing with childhood trauma, change in my environment and relationships and subsequently finally allowing myself the room to bloom.
Creating art has always been an incredibly impactful part of my life, it is my healing tool, my way to connect with others' hearts and express my spirit's truth. My entire childhood, I had this innate feeling that I was lost, worthless and misunderstood by those around me which causes me to be angry, isolated and there, but not really there. I attribute these feelings to my childhood traumas, dealing with a blended family and environment but majorly my mixed cultural heritage. Growing up white-presenting in a non-indigenous household but having a Blak spirit from to my father's side, contributed to my identity issues and poor mental health. Coming into adulthood, I am blessed with the opportunity to reflect on my life up to this point and it has given me a greater understanding of the strength and resilience of my spirit. I understand now that I had to go through the motions to connect with others' hearts the way I can now.
I finally came into my creative spiritual Power when I realised that I am following the divine path paved for me by my Ancestors. That is what this painting represents, the acceptance of the journey, the recognition of the pain endured and the beautiful hope held for my future.
I am at peace now that I am healing, I allow myself to bloom. May you find the peace you search for.
